■ 演出簡介

孔雀王朝第二代賓頭沙羅王治世，產下眾多王子，所有的優點都被阿育王子曩括：文武雙全、智慧過人，阿育因此而遭受其他王子們的厭惡與冷落，深怕權力與地位被阿育王子超越，皇兄蘇達摩更是暗中要刺殺阿育王子。孝順的阿育王子在母后勸說之下離開險惡皇族雲遊四海，途中巧遇羯陵伽的公主，兩人墜入愛河，亂世之中互相隱瞞身分私定終生，無奈接獲消息母后重病，阿育王子離開愛人……

    又在滿心期待與愛人重逢時，得到的卻是殘酷的打擊，愛人已慘死兵亂之中化為灰燼……一段生死纏綿使得阿育王子猶如行屍走肉。阿育王的善與惡都超出常人能力範圍，且看他如何看透紅塵，放下屠刀立地成佛，不用武力，以正法統治全世界的轉輪聖王。

 

The second Mauryan emperor of India, Bindusara had many sons, and among them Ashoka was the most outstanding one. He was not only well versed in both polite letters and martial arts but also smart; therefore, his brothers were jealous about him and ignored him intentionally. They were afraid to be replaced by Ashoka, and as a result one of his older brother Susima even sent an assassin to kill him. As a son devotion to his mother, Ashoka was persuaded by his mother to travel and to go away from his evil brothers. He fell in love with the princess of Kalinga on the road and were married without the permission of their parents. He left his lover when he received the news that his mother was very ill……..

 

 With full expectation to meet his lover again, Ashoka was hit hard by the fact that his lover became ashes because of the war….He was tortured by guilty since then….. The good will and evil of Ashoka is beyond the capacity of ordinary people, let’s see how he saw through the vanity of the world and put down the butcher knife. He ruled his empire with law not military force.

■ 演出團隊簡介

「秀琴歌劇團」1986年由張秀琴團長組團於臺中，「秀琴歌劇團」成團之初，演出地點多在中部一帶，1990年開始朝府城發展，迅速成為南部知名劇團，秀琴更獲「南部三大小生」稱號，苦旦莊金梅則有金嗓小旦的雅稱。

　　秀琴歌仔戲於2001年躍上公演舞臺，觀眾佳評如潮，且自該年始，連續入選為文化部國家扶植團隊至今，不但廣受觀眾喜愛，也受到政府單位與專家學者多方肯定。整齊的素質、動人的唱腔、認真的態度是劇團的特色。秀琴歌劇團近年演出朝向精緻化發展，更堅持每年至少製作一齣公演新戲，力求彰顯劇團的特色，2012年更以獲選「國藝會第三屆表演藝術追求卓越專案」之作品「歌仔新調──安平追想曲」登上國家戲劇院演出，待有朝一日走向國際舞臺。

 

Shiu Kim Taiwanese Opera Troupe was founded in Taichung in 1986 by chief Chang Shiu-kim. It became famous in southern part of Taiwan in 1990, and Shiu-kim was honored top three artist for playing young man character(xiaodan) in Taiwanese opera. In addition, Zhuang Jin-mei who played the role of sad young lady (kudan) and sang beautifully was recognized as having a golden voice.

 Since its very first time public performance in 2001, Shiu Kim Taiwanese Opera Troupe has not only welcomed by the public, but also honored by the Ministry of Culture. Its performances are approved by the experts for high quality productions, beautiful voices and hard-working attitudes. 
Shiu Kim Taiwanese Opera Troupe manifests its distinguishing features by presenting to the public at least one new production every year. In 2012, it presented "A New Tune of Taiwanese Opera- Anping Nostalgic Melody " to the audience on the stage of National Theatre with grant support by National Culture and Arts Foundation. It wishes to step on international stage one day.
